Dr. Bert Bubela was born and raised in El Campo, Texas. He graduated from El Campo High School in 1993 and attended Wharton County Junior College from 1993-95. He transferred to the University of Houston in August of 1995. He was accepted into the University of Houston College of Optometry after three years of undergraduate work and received his Bachelor of Science Summa Cum Laude in Pre-Optometry in 1998. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree Summa Cum Laude in May of 2000. While attending UHCO, he was a member of the American Optometric Students Association, the Student Texas Optometric Association, and the Beta Sigma Kappa honor fraternity. He also served as a student member of the Academic Committee.

Dr. Bert Bubela is licensed and therapeutically certified in Texas where he practices general optometry. He is also a certified Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. His career interests include ocular disease, refractive surgery, and contact lenses. He has acted as an investigator for the FDA in clinical studies on the effect of contact lenses on the eye. He is an active member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

In his time away from the office, Dr. Bubela enjoys outdoor activities, exercising, and playing the guitar.
